If you are a speaker or organiser of a Webikeo webinar, please take note of all the technical requirements presented below, which are essential for the success of your interventions. If your company has an IT department that manages Internet access, the network and/or computer workstations, all the requirements below must also be checked by them. Please send them this technical guide as soon as possible.

Technical requirements Network
Please forward these instructions to your IT department.
If your network has any restrictions or security issues, please follow the steps below to ensure that your network allows the use of our tool.
Proxy and Firewall Requirements
The following description covers some of the important points presented in the network diagram above
If you have a firewall that performs traffic, port or protocol permissions, or a proxy that blocks certain IP addresses, it is necessary to :
- Open TCP port 443
- Open port 3478
The UDP protocol is strongly recommended over the TCP protocol for better audio and video quality. However, our room is compatible with both protocols. For the best possible experience, we recommend opening UDP ports 1025 - 65535.
- Authorize domain names :
* .tokbox.com *.opentok.com *.google.com *.webikeo.fr *.webikeo.com

For attendees:
We recommend that they access the live/replay webconferences from a recent browser.
The viewers' network must not have any restrictions on domain names (for example, a network on which users cannot view YouTube videos will probably not allow viewing of Webikeo webinars). Neither must it have any bandwidth limitation to view webinars in full stability and allow the reception of a streaming video
Technical requirements Connection
For presenters:
To conduct a webinar in optimal conditions, these are the minimum levels of upload and download bandwidth required per presenter :
| Minimum download of bandwidth per presenter. | Minimum uplaod of bandwidth per presenter. |
| 7 Mbps | 7Mbps |
Upload and/or download bandwidth between 1 and 7 Mbps :
Hosting a webinar with an upload and/or download bandwidth between 1 and 7 Mbps presents somes risks such as disconnections, image or audio problems. At this level of bandwidth, the use of the webcam and the diffusion of PDF documents as well as the quality of the webinar are compromised.
Upload and/or download bandwidth below 1Mbps:
You cannot host a webinar with an upload and/or download bandwidth below 1Mbps
The lowest bandwidth among the presenters has an impact on the entire webinar :
The lowest bandwidth from all presenters will be used to send the video/audio stream to attendees and will impact the entire live event. A poor connection can compromise the whole live event and is not compensated by the excellent connections of the other presenters.
Concerning the ping value, it is recommended to have a value lower than 50ms to avoid any risk of micro interruptions and disconnections. The lower your ping, the better.
Example of an optimal connection test result
The above test can be used to analyse your bandwidth and ping levels. To host a webinar in good conditions, it is recommended to check with your IT department the bandwidth which is available per presenter. It must be at least 7 Mbps in the ascending direction in order to transmit a stream in complete stability.
Ensure the stability of your live stream
- Use an Ethernet cable
- Ask your IT department if you have a bandwidth restriction per user.
- Close all software, applications and pages using your connection, sound and video (like Skype).
- Ask your co-workers not to overload the network during your live and technical tests (downloading large files, unusual internet activity).
For attendees:
A minimum download speed of 2Mbps is required to receive the stream in all stability.
Technical requirements Browsers
For presenters:
You must use Google Chrome (version 65+ and above) or Mozilla Firefox (version 60+ and above) on a computer.
If you use Chrome, you should follow the procedure below:
- Copy and paste this link into Chrome: chrome://settings/?search=acc%C3%A9l%C3%A9ration
- Uncheck the box: "Use hardware acceleration if available" and click on "relaunch".
- You can also bypass this procedure by connecting with Mozilla Firefox latest version.
Access to the camera and microphone must be authorized on the browser used for the webinar. A pop-up asking for authorization will open when the room loads.
In case of camera/microphone blockage
If you encounter a problem with your camera and microphone in your virtual room or if a red camera or a cross appears in your address bar, please follow the procedure according to your browser:
Chrome procedure:
Click on the 3 little dots in the top right corner > Settings > Advanced settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Camera and microphone > Change the "blocked" button to "Ask permission before accessing"
Firefox procedure:
Click on the 3 dashes on the top right > Options > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Camera/Microphone > Settings > Uncheck "Block new requests to access your camera"
For attendees:
Your participants will be able to join your webinar on the following browsers: Safari (>12.1.2+), Firefox (>60+), Google Chrome (>65+) and Edge (>79).

As a presenter, you are not able to conduct your webinar on a tablet or smartphone, but only on a computer. Only viewers can access the webinar on a smartphone or tablet.
Document
You can display documents in PDF format, use PNG & JPEG images or MP4 videos.
If your original document is a Powerpoint you can simply save it as a PDF.
- 1 PDF - 12 MB max - 100 Pages Max
- PNG and JPEG image: images can be grouped together when uploaded, maximum 19 images in one document 12 MB max
- 1 Video, MP4 format only 300 MB max
Hosting a webinar from home
If you use your work computer, please check if your company has a VPN (virtual private network). If you have a VPN, you have to :
- Check all the minimum technical requirements regarding the network (first part of the article) with your IT department.
- If your IT department is not able to intervene and you are allowed to do so: deactivate your VPN and switch it to manual startup from the task manager if you are an administrator on your PC (this avoids the network requirements presented in the first part of the article).
- Use a personal PC, if you cannot disable your VPN or check your network with your IT department.
All other requirements given in this document remain valid for hosting a webinar from home.
Are the configurations optimal after checking with my IT department?
To organize a webinar, we ask you to check your configuration beforehand with your IT department if you have one.
You can then run an analysis using our test version. Just click on the following link:
https://tokbox.com/developer/tools/precall/results and wait for the results.
All the sections must be validated (green colour in the left column - "connected") as above. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "save this data as simple text".
The results that need to be obtained are :
Hardware Setup
- Audio et vidéo : successfully found
- Navigateur compatible ("supported by Opentok")
Connectivity test results
- Successfully connected to Opentok API server
- Successfully connected to Opentok Messaging Websocket
- Successfully connected to Opentok
Quality test results
- Audio et vidéo quality : excellent

Example of an optimal connection test result
If the obtained results do not correspond to the above mentioned expectations, it is necessary to involve your IT department. A positive test result does not guarantee the success of your webinar. It only identifies potential blockages. It does not check your bandwidth level.
Am I ready to host a webinar?
If the webinar you are hosting has the “Technical Support" option, then all the presenters need to
perform a technical test in the same conditions as the ones they would be on the day of their webconference. This test needs to be done at least 4 days before that date.
Presenters receive an automatic e-mail to make an appointment with our technical team once the webinar is validated. The presenters can book an appointment directly in our calendar by clicking on the link in the email. If they do not receive this appointment email, they are invited to contact support@webikeo.fr. After this 4-day period, they will not be able to guarantee the success of your webinar.
